The state of Gujarat was formed on 1 May 1968. The capital of Gujarat is named Gandhinagar. Gandhinagar is also known as Green City.

The city was named Gandhinagar in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhinagar is located 35 km northeast of Ahmedabad, Gujarat's largest city, on the banks of the Sabarmati River.

Gujarat is a very important state of India. The largest district of India is also located in this state.
